HOST: Tom and Cindy MillarThe Pacific Beach Experience
This popular event is designed with a short but wonderfully curvy road through the back woods of Mason and Grays Harbor Counties. This year we may switch it up a bit and plan a trip out to the Westport Winery to enjoy their offerings and lunch is also available. On way back towards Pacific beach we will make a brief stop in Aberdeen at the Walmart Shopping Center where groceries can be had. There are other places also located in this same shopping complex. We will then proceed to Pacific Beach in time for check-in.
Once at Pacific Beach you will have the opportunity to walk on the beach where kites may be flying in abundance. Or, you can take a leisurely stroll around the thriving (tong & cheek) metropolis of Pacific Beach! You may even want to purchase your own kite at the kite shop in Pacific Beach and participate in the fun! By the way, the Navy facility is pretty much wide open, meaning no masks for those who have been vaccinated.
After an afternoon on the beach, with all the joy that includes typically pristine September weather, we will sit back, sip some favorite beverages and slip into some easy times. Dinner is on your own. The Navy facility includes a take-out menu and limited seating is available in the dining area. There are also dinner options available in the surrounding area (Seabrook). You can also purchase a pizza at Papa Murphy’s in Aberdeen and cook in at the Millar Chateau. Following dinner, we plan to assemble in the either the party room or the Millar Chateau for some after-action reports on our experiences.
Our ride will begin in the parking lot of the Little Creek Casino in Shelton with a short drivers' meeting starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lodging will be at the Pacific Beach Resort & Conference Center.
As of now we have several rooms blocked for this event. Their website is: http://www.navylifepnw.com/site/68/Pacific-Beach.aspx. Rooms run from $70 to $125 per night (no tax). You will need to reserve your room using either a Visa or MasterCard. If your plans change, you have until two weeks prior to the event to cancel without a charge. The direct phone number for Pacific Beach Resort & Conference Center is: (360)276-4414 (Select Option 2 for front desk). When you call, you need to reference Tom Millar with the Puget Sound Miata Club.
The early bird gets the worm on this one…book early! By the way, on Sunday we will max our check out time and plan on a leisurely drive back civilization.
